I travelled with my family to Sri Lanka from 17/9/2013 to 9/10/2013. Day one was getting there and checking into hotel and sleeping (no photos of airport sorry). This blog is not to explain my experiences in detail but to share with you some of the wonderful sights, amazing scenery of an island that is fast becoming discovered as a tourist destination. All images were taken with a simple Canon s110 so no fancy gear being lugged around the island here, which was fortuitous as it was over 30 degrees Celcius most days and a large number of them we trecked up to 20kms in hot and high humidity conditions.
Day One was spend near the main Sri Lankan airport of Colombo, more specifically Negombo, not exploring too far as we were recovering from a 16 hour flight. First thoughts went straight to the massive amounts of tuk tuks on the roads, so what else to do but catch one?
Day two was a quick tour of Negombo itself (not just the local bank and shops) including a visit to the fish markets and a viewing of the massive rows of drying fish. We also got our first taste of the elaborate Hindu Temples (there were plenty more to come).
I'll post more photos over the coming days
